An accident at work could leave you unable to do your job, either temporarily or permanently. Personal accident insurance will pay out a lump sum of £10,000 in the event of your death, or if you:
- lose your sight (in one or both eyes)
- lose the use of a limb
- are permanently disabled
Personal accident cover will also pay out up to £250 / week if you are temporary disablement for up to a year (excluding first 14 days), or up to £125 / week if for partially temporary disablement.
Some medical expenses can also be reimbursed, under the terms and conditions of the policy.
As with other types of insurance, there are some notable exclusions. For example, we will not pay for any claims arising from aerial activities, alcohol or drug use, or work undertaken as part of the insured person’s service in the armed forces.
It’s also important to note that this is not life insurance: the policy does not cover you for death resulting from an illness or natural causes.
Personal accident insurance is available as optional cover along with other pet business insurance policies, across the range of sectors and occupations we insure.
If you need insurance to cover your business for any claims arising from employees due to bodily injury incurred while working for you, we also provide employers’ liability insurance separately.
