Cover for third-party claims
In addition to covering costs ordered by a court, our public liability insurance also covers the expense of necessary legal representation, compensates court attendances (up to £250 per day), and damage to premises for which you are responsible (e.g. a room or building you may have hired).
An excess will apply for damage to property or property in your custody or control.
With Pet Business Insurance, public liability insurance coverage is included as part of a broad selection of insurance packages tailored for professional pet business: from insurance designed for dog walkers, pet sitters and dog groomers to pet taxi service providers.
Providing the correct requirements are met, we can also provide cover for members of dog clubs and those attending dog shows.
As with other forms of insurance, some exclusions apply. With our public liability insurance, we will not cover (among others):
- injury caused to an employee during their work
- dogs or wild animals classed as ‘dangerous’ under current legislation
- damage to property owned by the policyholder
If you need insurance to cover potential claims for injury sustained by employees, you will need employers’ liability insurance which we can provide separately.
