Cover for providers of professional services

Our professional indemnity insurance protects your business if:

• you give professional advice which is wrong and ends up causing a loss
• you are found to have been negligent in the provision of your services
• you are proved to have been lacking in your duty of care towards a client.

Your business will also be covered for claims due to infringement of intellectual property rights, a breach of confidence or misuse of confidential information, and any provable cases of defamation for which you can be held liable.

The cover we provide will pay up to £1,000,000 for claims made against you during the insurance period. Legal defence costs are also covered in this amount.

As with all forms of insurance, there are some exceptions. In the case of our indemnity business insurance, we will not cover (among others):

• criminal, dishonest, fraudulent, or malicious acts
• any discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment
• disputes between you and your employees

It’s important to note that professional indemnity insurance is not the same as employers’ liability insurance. If you have employees, you must have separate cover to protect you and your business against claims raised by employees.
